Brothers International Desserts, Inc. was created in 1973 by Gary and Errol Winkler in Westminster, CA. Originally it was established as Brothers Italian Ices, and they sold from retail stores. Eventually, the brothers realized they wanted to emphasize manufacturing and wholesaling of the product so they sold their retail stores and moved to a small industrial facility in Santa Ana, CA. The new 5,000 square foot building allowed the company to expand their production line and soon they were making a full line of fruitbars, ice creams and ice cream truffles.
A few years later the company incorporated and changed its name to Brothers International Desserts. Annual sales finally surpassed a million dollars.
By 1999, the company had grown and was bursting at the seams. It was then that it moved to its current 30,000 square foot facility in Irvine, CA. By then, the company was making hundreds of products that were being sold throughout the country. Sales continued to grow very rapidly as Brothers delicious desserts were being enjoyed in restaurants, hotels, airlines, ball parks, club stores, supermarkets, and more.
